Sydney RBN Logo

"The world's biggest and most influential network for senior business people with a passion for rugby.”

The RBN is dedicated to encouraging and celebrating the application of rugby's values to business. We want to use our events to help and inspire each other in business and life. We encourage members who attend our networking events to start with the words 'How can I help you?', not 'What can you do for me?'

Our second event of the year will be focussed on raising awareness of mental health and the repercussions for people at all levels of rugby. Given recent and ongoing events in the rugby community, we are hoping this event will help to remove the stigma and encourage open communication around mental health in the rugby community. As well as our guest speakers, this event will host a number of Not for Profits and Charities who are dedicated to mental health awareness.

Following on from our first event of the year, the RBN in Sydney is looking to strengthen the ‘community’ that Rugby Union offers us all. If your company looks to build relationships and offer support based on common values and integrity, then there is no better vehicle in the rugby world than The RBN.

GUEST PANEL SPEAKER: Brendan Cannon

Rugby Career:

  • Wallaby #769

  • 42 Caps

  • Test Rugby Points   10

  • Test Tries  2

  • Debut 2001 2nd Test vs the British & Irish Lions

He also played 106 Super Rugby games and was the 12th player in the competition’s history to achieve that milestone. His retirement in April 2007 was due to a serious neck injury

Played for the Qld Reds, NSW Waratahs and was the first player signed to the Western Force in 2005

At the end of 2006, Brendan Cannon was 33 years of age but was still a force in Australian rugby. As well as being a great gentleman on and off the field, he was also a consummate professional and always played to the limit of his ability. Not a try-scoring hooker like Adam Freier or Jeremy Paul, he was a good rucking forward who never gave in. If there were two words to sum him up, it would be determined and committed.

GUEST EVENT HOST : Greg Mumm

Managing Director of The Final Whistle.

In conjunction with our fantastic team we developed this concept to avoid the huge waste of potential we saw occurring when athletes didn’t achieve what they were capable of in life after sport.

Prior to his business career Greg spent 10 years as a professional rugby coach working at all levels from school to international level, including assisting Fiji at both the 2007 and 2011 Rugby World Cups.

He came to The Final Whistle after co-founding CareerHQ, a career guidance platform for young men and women, which helps them find their purpose and create their own unique and fulfilling career paths. He strongly values education, leadership, family and business and is passionate about continuing to build on his own expertise and qualifications in coaching, education, values facilitation and human behaviour.
