Get pitch-ready with essential, football-focused first aid training!

This practical, course split over two evenings is designed for coaches, volunteers, and team staff involved in Scottish youth football. It provides essential first aid training tailored to the unique demands of the game, following Scottish Youth FA and Scottish FA guidelines.

Please note this will take place over two seperate eveings, candidates must attend both eveings to complete course and recieve certifcation.

Night 1 - Wednesday 3rd September 2025

Night 2 - Thursday 4th September 2025

What You’ll Learn:

Role and Responsibilities of the First Aider

  • Assessing the situation safely
  • Importance of consent and communication
  • Calling for emergency assistance
  • Reporting and recording incident

Primary Survey

  • DRABC (Danger, Response, Airway, Breathing, Circulation

Managing an Unresponsive Casualty

  • Breathing and non-breathing
  • Recovery position
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
  • Use of AED (Automated External Defibrillator)

Minor and Major Injuries

  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Shock (including hypovolemic)
  • Burns and scalds
  • Sprains, strains, fractures
  • Head injuries (including concussion management)
  • Eye injuries
  • Dental injuries

Medical Conditions

  • Asthma
  • Diabetes
  • Epilepsy
  • Anaphylaxis (including use of adrenaline auto-injectors like EpiPen)

Football-Specific Injuries

  • Head and neck trauma (including spinal injury awareness)
  • Concussion protocol (reflects SYFA/Scottish FA guidance)
  • Heat exhaustion / hypothermia
  • Injury management during matches

Football-Specific Requirements (SYFA/Scottish FA aligned)

  • Concussion recognition and return-to-play protocols(e.g., “If in doubt, sit them out” policy)
  • Managing injuries on the field of play
  • Clear understanding of when to stop play, assess, and refer
  • First aider conduct on sidelines and interactions with referees/coaches
