SYKEHOUSE FILM AND WRITER'S FESTIVAL - on 16-17 May 2026 will return with back to back screening of selected filmfest entries, running along side our author track.

Our judges range from award winning writers, producers, directors and bloggers. All of whom have a love for the art of film and music.

The event will take place close to the picturesque village of Sykehouse, at the beautiful country hotel Owston Hall Hotel (DN5 0LP), set in its own grounds with golf course and all amenities. Food, drink and all amenities are available throughout the festival.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION

The SYKEHOUSE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL was created to celebrate great films and screenplays by author and multi-award-winning screenwriter Samantha Lee Howe. Samantha and the rest of the team are passionate about film and brilliant storytelling, and wanted to provide an outlet for independent films to get seen.

Films and Screenplays will be judged by a panel of committed film-o-philes, and each round will award a BEST and RUNNER-UP in the seven categories:
