Description

Sylva Sisters: Wild Fire & Wellbeing (flint and steel)

10.30am - 4.30pm at National Trust Footprint in Windermere, Cumbria

A day of exploring ancient techniques of percussion fire-lighting in beautiful woodlands. The day also includes yoga, mindfulness and forest bathing, making the day a nourishing as well as a learning experience. We have the whole woodland and Footprint building all to ourselves to explore and retreat in.

We shall cover:

- Identify, gather and preparation of tinder, including making charcloth for future firelighting

- Percussion fire-lighting including mastering the ancient technique of flint and steel

- Yoga, mindfulness and forest bathing

It's an absolutely fantastic day for all women, no matter your experience. You can join in with as much or as little of the activities as you feel like on the day.. it's Y O U R day.

Booking essential, see website. There are toilets and a beautiful indoor space with wood burning fire and woodland views to retreat to in very bad weather.

The day is led by Yoga and yogic mindfulness teacher and yoga therapist Nes Bear who is also a qualified and experienced forest school leader, woodland manager and craftswoman who shares her skills in a way that is fun, welcoming, calming and gentle.

There will be lots of snacks and teas available throughout the day, as well as hearty soup and vegan cake for lunch.

Please bring waterproofs, wear boots and bring some vegan food to share to add to our group lunch. It can be something simple like bread or hummus or your favourite dish!
