Symposium: The Archive Unbound
Event Information
Description
Keynote Speaker: Andrew Prescott (University of Glasgow)
Cardiff University’s Digital Cultures Network is delighted to announce its second Symposium called The Archive Unbound. The creation of digital archives is about more than just the translation of the physical into the digital. Such processes are not neutral or apolitical, often involving difficult discussions about selection, metadata, representation, access and sustainability. Decisions about how to focus archival efforts become ever more intense as the ‘archival turn’ and ‘archive fever’ gain pace, and given associated concerns about how to archive diverse and disparate born-digital (including social media) content.
Registration is free for delegates but places are limited. The deadline for registration is midday, 1 May 2017.
