6 December – ‘The End of Utopia?’, Symposium

Seng Tee Lee Seminar Room

10:00 – 17:00

 

This one day symposium will bring together a panel of scholars and academics from a wide range of disciplines to explore whether utopian visions of society are still possible in our time.

Cathy Shrank, Professor of Tudor and Renaissance Literature at the University of Sheffield, will deliver the keynote lecture on the reception and interpretation of Utopia in the 16th and early 17th centuries.

Other confirmed speakers include Professor Keith Somerville (Institute of Commonwealth Studies and Kent University), Dr Johan Siebers (Institute of Modern Languages Research), Dr Clare Launchbury (Institute of Modern Languages Research/Institute of Historical Research), Alessandro Scafi (Warburg Institute).
