Event description

Description

*** A VERY POPULAR COURSE RIGHT NOW, AND THIS NEW DATE IN FEBRUARY 2019 HAS BEEN PUBLISHED DUE TO PREVIOUS HIGH DEMAND ***

It sometimes seems like everyone is talking about Spice. Social media is full of videos of people thought to be under the influence of the drug and the media regularly carries stories about ‘Spice Zombies’.

Join us on this brief half day session and cut through the hysteria to find out what Spice is, how it's used, who is using it and how we can help people.

We look at Harm Reduction interventions and consider what drug treatment services and others can do.

This course is suitable for anyone whose work may bring them into contact with people using spice.

During this half-day session, we will cover the following:

Course Aim

To equip participants with information, knowledge & skills to enable them to more effectively support people affected by use of Synthetic Cannabinoids Receptor Agonists (‘Spice’)

Learning Outcomes

  • For participants to better develop their knowledge of ‘Spice’ – what is it and how did we get to where we are now
  • Understanding Synthetic Cannabinoids Receptor Agonists (SCRAs) – risks, harms and harm reduction interventions
  • Explore commonly used SCRAs and their impact on behaviour & mental health
  • Provide a space where participants can reflect on the impact of SCRA use within their service and develop solutions to ensure the continued delivery of person centred care.
