Event description
How system based approaches can contribute to tackling local environmental issues and inspire action beyond traditional community engagement

About this Event

An integral part of the NIHR Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care North West Coast (CLAHRC NWC) is to provide events to support the dissemination of knowledge and innovative practice to help improve services, public policy and community health.

The CLAHRC NWC Neighbourhood Resilience Programme is organising a learning exchange event Cleaner, Greener Environments to present their efforts to develop collaborations at a systems level to have impact on the environment.

As well as sharing our own experience in three neighbourhoods across the north-west coast, we will be hearing inspiring examples from on-the-ground effective local actions. Highlights include:

• East Haven, Angus, Scotland, sharing their approach to tackling littering and environmental issues involving stakeholders from across the Angus community including representatives from businesses, schools, national organisations, local authorities and Scottish government

• Hubbub Foundation, describing their organisation’s work to transform disused alleys at the back of houses into bright and friendly communal spaces

• The Neighbourhood Resilience Programme work in Preston, Liverpool and Blackburn with Darwen, exploring and addressing local environmental concerns.

Who is the event for?

Local authorities, community organisations, third and public sector agencies, activist groups, residents interested in their communities and environment.

This learning exchange workshop will be an opportunity share examples of good practice for others working in similar organisations or with similar experiences.

Please note lunch and refreshments will be provided, please contact K.Khan4@lancaster.ac.uk with any dietary requirements.
