Event description
One-day workshop about the Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Dataset

About this Event

The Joint Collegiate Council for Oncology (JCCO) – through The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) - will be hosting a one-day workshop about the Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Dataset on Tuesday 17 March 2020.

The SACT dataset is a very valuable source of information on the delivery of systemic treatments. It helps both to enhance our understanding of service delivery and evaluate how services can be improved, leading to better patient outcomes.

Building on the success of our 2016 and 2017 workshops, the JCCO is pleased to be supporting the continued development and improvement of the SACT dataset, in partnership with Public Health England, through another practical and informative workshop, which will:

  • showcase SACT outputs that support clinical service delivery, aid research and inform commissioning decisions,
  • encourage submission of high-quality and timely data, and
  • provide help and advice on SACT data access.

The programme will cover a range of topics including:

  • the potential of registry data, including SACT, for precision medicine
  • the role of SACT data in supporting an evaluation of the Cancer Drugs Fund
  • clinical outcomes post SACT for patients, including 30 day mortality analyses
  • routine SACT outputs – what’s available and how you can shape the offer
  • comparing experience and learning lessons across the devolved nations
  • ‘your questions answered’ – a panel debate on data collection, submissions and access

The workshop will run from 10am – 4.15pm and will be held at the RCR in central London (63 Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London WC2A 3JW). It will be free of charge to attend but please be aware that the JCCO is not able to pay any travel or subsistence expenses. CPD accreditation will be sought.

The workshop is aimed at a clinical audience, for those with responsibility for overseeing the submission of SACT data. If this is not your role, please forward this message to the relevant person in your centre – be it a Clinical Oncologist, Medical Oncologist, Haematologist, Paediatric Oncologist or a colleague in another discipline. Places are limited, and attendance will be restricted to one representative per centre to ensure that as many centres as possible can attend.

Please get in touch on SACT@phe.gov.uk if you have any questions about the event.

We look forward to seeing you in March.
