This one-day course is designed for people with experience of carrying out energy assessments, surveys and audits in other fields, and seeks to equip them with the ability to assemble the necessary data, carry out evaluations, and make reasonable recommendations.
It covers cars, vans, PSVs and HGVs, including the grey fleet. It includes
- Transport type characteristics
- Data sources, collection and estimation
- Technical fuel-saving measures
- Driver behaviour
- Route and vehicle optimisation
- Tax and other cost-saving opportunities
- Performance metrics
It is equally useful for public-sector organisations, private enterprises and consultants, and for those already engaged in carbon accounting it adds the vital dimension of practical emissions reduction. The instructor, Dr Chris Endacott, has carried out over a hundred fleet energy reviews and worked in depth on a number of government programmes. He uses a combination of presentations and individual and group exercises including basic calculations and some on-line research.
The course is small and informal, with plenty of opportunity for interaction..
