Event description

Description

Barnardo’s Scotland is delighted to invite you to this parliamentary reception sponsored by Jenny Gilruth MSP focussing on tackling child sexual exploitation through multi-agency partnership working.

Barnardo’s Scotland is proud to play an active role in the National Action Plan to Prevent and Tackle Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and to be pioneering models enabling better identification and response to CSE, and improving the ability of professionals to disrupt perpetration by offenders.

This event will showcase our partnership working across public, private and voluntary sectors, with a spotlight on the success of our RISE CSE Advisors project, our Nightwatch partnership with Crimestoppers, and the work of our Early Intervention service.

We are particularly pleased to welcome Maree Todd MSP, Minister for Children and Young People, to address the event. Guests will also hear from:

  • Daljeet Dagon, Programme Manager for CSE at Barnardo’s Scotland;

  • Sergeant Robert Hogg from the Scottish Business Resilience Centre, partner in the Crimestoppers partnership;

  • Superintendent Elaine Galbraith, partner in the RISE service; and,

  • PC Yocksan Bell, partner in the work of our Early Intervention Service with regards to Missing.

The event, like all our work, will take a multi-agency approach and is aimed at all those with a professional interest in tackling CSE and will provide an opportunity to share best practice and build relationships.

Please note that it is necessary to register via the Eventbrite page. Guests should arrive from 17:30 at the Scottish Parliament building and report to the visitors desk. Drinks and refreshments will be made available from 18:00.
