The APPG on Race and Community’s upcoming event, hosted in collaboration with the Trade Union Congress
About this event
We know the devastating disproportionate impact the pandemic is having on our ethnic minority communities. These disparities have persisted into the disproportionate impact covid is having on ethnic minority employees in the workplace.
Black and minority ethnic employees are often in insecure jobs with fewer rights at work, putting them at the dual risk of contracting COVID-19 and job loss.
The upcoming All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Race and Community will feature the voices and experiences of working class ethnic minority people and Trade Union ethnic minority activists, who will discuss their experiences of organising against racial discrimination in the workplace, with a focus on their work during the pandemic.
During the roundtable we will hear contributions from:
- Michelle Codrington- Rogers, the first Black President of the NASUWT
- Harish Patel, from Unite the Union
- Wilf Sullivan, Race Equality Officer at the TUC
- Shavanah Taj, Wales’ first BME TUC General Secretary
