Training Course for Teachers at Imperial College (TaCTIC)
This is an interactive one-day course designed to give you a mix of theory and practical guidance on developing your teaching skills that can be applied in the workplace environment.
It will cover 'What is learning?', 'Learning needs assessment', 'Questioning styles', 'Lesson planning and 'Feedback.'
It will help you to structure your teaching sessions with the opportunity to practice these newly acquired skills in a short teaching session of your own. You will also partake in group work to aid understanding of educational concepts. The course incorporates core aspects of clinical teaching with small group teaching and consistently links to medical educational theory.
The course will run from registration at 9.00am until close by latest 4.00pm, with coffee breaks and lunch provided.
The course in open to all those that teach in a community or primary care setting. Although this is predominantly doctors (F2s, STs, GPs), nurses, healthcare assistants and other healthcare professionals are welcome.
We will send you an email with your certificate for 6 hours of attendance within two working days following completion of your online feedback
For those intending to teach Imperial medical students the course is mandatory in order to commence teaching.
