Description

Tactile Collider is 2018 winner of The University of Manchester People’s Vote for the Faculty of Science and Engineering’s Better World Showcase and was Highly Commented in the Making A Difference Award for Social Responsibility 2018.

Tactile Collider is a fully immersive and interactive 2 hour workshop. Using drama, touch and sounds it gives students with visual impairments the opportunity to delve into the world of cutting edge science, exploring the Large Hadron Collider and particle accelerator physics.

Tactile models and specially produced soundscapes are used by working physicists to bring to life science and give students a chance to explore, ask questions and investigate. We work directly with small groups of students, opening up a world of access often unavailable to students with a visual impairment. The aim of the project is to encourage students to consider science as an area of interest and further study.

Suitable for all students aged 11-18 with any form of visual impairment.

For more information on the project please visit our website www.tactilecollider.uk or follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram @tactilecollider
