ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Fock Ee-ling , Founder of The Missing Piece

The Missing Piece was founded by former stay-at-home-mum Dr Fock Ee-ling, who first picked up sewing while completing her PhD in medical research in Australia. In between long days in the lab and writing up her thesis, Ee-ling loved to shop for fabric and make her own clothes. When she became a young mother, Ee-ling began making one-of-kind pieces for her three children and herself. What started as a hobby then grew into The Missing Piece. After The Missing Piece was discovered by Tjin Lee, chairperson of Singapore Fashion Week, and with the runaway success of its CNY2017 collection for ladies, the brand shifted its primary focus from coordinated casuals for families to womenswear.

Raena Lim , Co-Founder of StyleTheory

Raena cofounded Style Theory to introduce a smarter way to consume fashion: the freedom to wear a limitless variety of clothes without the constraint of space, cost and environmental impacts. Prior to Style Theory, she worked in a nonprofit in Kenya, setting up microcredit financing loans, banking infrastructure, and financial curriculum to empower villages to break out of the poverty cycle. After her stint in Kenya, she moved to Goldman Sachs in Asia to set up operations in the Asia markets before setting up Style Theory to make more direct impact to the causes she believes in.

Widelia Liu, Founder of Whole9Yards, Advisor of Vilry.co

Widelia is a serial entrepreneur with 8+ years of start-up experience building consumer brands from the ground up. In 2014, she founded womenswear brand – Whole9Yards which was sold in leading retailers across 18 countries and was awarded Singapore Entrepreneur's Award (2014). Since mid 2018, she has shifted her focus to venture investing and broadened her areas of interest to include Fintech and Blockchain. Currently, she is a Partner at SUSY Labs and an Advisor to CRC Capital. Widelia graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA in Economics and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with an MBA.(2014).

Danelle Woo, Founder of Aijek

Singapore-born designer Danelle Woo founded Aijek late 2010 in Shanghai. While studying, her vacations were spent working at POIS, a multi-label chain in Singapore that stock Giambattista Valli, Herve Leger, Isabel Marant amongst many other high fashion European labels. It was there that laid the foundation of how she saw fashion. Deciding to fulfill her long-held passion for fashion, she left her Director position in a PR agency and started Aijek from her home studio. Overseeing the operational process of Aijek from design, sourcing, prototyping and production, she is personally involved in the intimate process of creating each collection and building the Aijek brand.

Tjin Lee, Co-Founder of CRIB, Managing Director at Mercury Marketing and Communications

Tjin Lee is managing director and founder of the award-winning Mercury Group of companies which she founded in 2001. Mercury Group specializes in fashion, lifestyle and luxury industries and comprises Mercury Events, Mercury PR, Mercury Creative and Mercury Marketing & Communications. In 2015, the festival was renamed Singapore Fashion Week, Singapore’s premier fashion event, bringing with it more industry-wide relevance to fashion in Singapore. A passionate entrepreneur, Tjin boasts directorship in nine local businesses, including Curated Editions, Baby Style Icon and Wolfgang Violin Studio. She was also the recipient of the inaugural Singapore Tatler Young Achiever Leadership Award (2010) and featured on Singapore Tatler’s 300 list (2018).Tjin co-founded CRIB in 2014, Singapore’s first business and lifestyle incubator targeted at women. The social enterprise aims to empower and encourage women from all walks of life to create successful, responsible and innovative businesses through networking, matchmaking and business incubation – all this while maximising the elusive goal of achieving a fulfilling work-life balance.
