The Abersoch RNLI Bike Ride is a non-competitive cycling event that starts and finishes at SCYC / beach car park in Abersoch village. The event will feature four routes. Route 1 is a 40-mile ride, Route 2 is a 30-mile ride, Route 3 is a 15-mile ride and Route 4 is a 9½ mile ride, routes 3 and 4 being for family groups with children.

The 40 Mile Route < Please click here for the route.

The 40-mile route is generally a recognised published route, following parts of the National Cycle Network. The route has 3,162 feet of climbing, with a long climb up from Abersoch to the top of the hill above Mynytho and from Aberdaron to the back of Mynydd Rhiw, along with several other challenging lengths of climbing.

The 30 Mile Route < Please click here for the route.

The 30-mile route is generally a recognised published route, following parts of the National Cycle Network. However, the published route after Sarn Meyllteyrn goes along a steep rough track and through a farmyard which we judged to be a safety hazard, so we have diverted along a main road and through Bryncroes to ensure that the road surface is always good enough for safe cycling. The route has 2,515 feet of climbing, with a long climb up from Abersoch to the top of the hill above Mynytho and several other lengths of climbing.

The 15 Mile Route < Please click here for the route.

The 15-mile route will use the lower land to the back of Porth Neigwl to avoid the steep hills of the 40- and 30-mile routes. Riders will leave Abersoch to go to Sarn Bach, then into Llanengan where they will start the circuit to Llangian and towards Botwnnog until they join the route of the other rides to come back to Porth Neigwl and a check point in Llanengan, where they will do another circuit to Llangian and towards Botwnnog and Porth Neigwl, through Llanengan, before returning to Abersoch.

The 9½ mile route < Please click here for the route.

Riders will leave Abersoch to go to Sarn Bach, then into Llanengan where they will start the circuit to Llangian and towards Botwnnog until they join the route of the other rides to come back to Porth Neigwl and a check point in Llanengan, before returning to Abersoch.

We will offer water to riders at the 2 Check points at Cwt Tatws and The Sun. Toilet facilities will also be available.
