Description

Never more than an hour away from London, experience the beautiful South Downs National Park, the iconic seaside town of Brighton and experience the quintessential villages in the English countryside.

Famous for its English heritage, there is evidence of the earliest inhabitants of England which dates back 500,000 years. The Battle of Hastings took place here in 1066, a battle for the throne of England. Brighton Pavilion was built as a seaside pleasure palace for King George IV.

Highlights of this Discovery Visit will include:

  • Fun accessible activities including wheelchair basketball .

  • A visit to the new inclusive sports facility for children and young people.

  • Trip on i360 one of Brighton’s famous tourist attractions.

  • A visit to Brighton Pavillion.

  • Learn about YMCA DLG Right Here’s campaigning and influencing work.

  • Discussion and learning around social action and campaigning activities.

  • Reflection for YMCA175 explore opportunities and ideas to develop young leaders.

The activities planned will share and celebrate what is rewarding about YMCAs work in this region of England, the role it plays within local communities, and the collaborative approach of multiple local YMCAs on how they work together to seek local solutions to complex national

problems.

There will be opportunity to learn about local culture and rich heritage of YMCA in the South East of England.

This visit is being coordinated by YMCA Downslink Group and YMCA East Surrey.

Trip Information

The Discovery Visit will begin on Thursday 8 August and end at Saturday 10 August. Please ensure you are ready to begin the visit at 12:00 at YMCA Guildford.Your visit will finish with breakfast at YMCA Guildford Café on Saturday 10 August. You will need to make your own onwards travel arrangements from here.


After the Discovery Visit Delegates will need to make arrangement for travel from Guildford to international departure point.
