About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

This will be a walk up through the lovely Archery Field open space from the more formal park land up through this green finger reaching into the open countryside beyond.

We will take a look at wildflower meadows, veteran trees, coppice stands and venture onto the Purlewent Village Green. Here we will learn about the history of the green, how it came about and how the meadows are now being managed for wildflowers.

Our walk will end in Primrose Hill Community Woodlands where we will be treated to a whistle stop tour of the woodlands and learn about the history and how they are currently being managed by volunteers.

We will be spotting trees, flowers, bugs and butterflies along the route.

The walk is 3 miles, finishing at the Triangle on the Weale in Weston (thought the walk leaders will return to the start, which adds half a mile).

It's mainly flat with a few steps and kissing gates, and some rougher pathways. There are resting points on the route.

Dogs on leads are welcome.

Getting there: The walk starts at the south east corner of Archery Field, Weston Park, BA1 2UZ- where Weston Park meets Weston Park East. What3Words frozen.trim.ended
