Take Me To The Bridgewater
Sat 1 April 2017, 14:15 – 15:15 BST
Join us for a unique exploration which will bring you a whole new perspective on the Bridgewater Canal.
Take Me To The Bridgewater is an audio artwork by four-times BAFTA nominated artists’ group Blast Theory. Created with young people from Salford, this work is a journey into the minds of these local young people, who are taking our histories and making their own futures.
Blast Theory set out to encourage the young people to explore their own histories – who is important in their lives and what are their stories? How will their own history be shaped? From their own stories to flights of fantasy, what are the stories of the Bridgewater Canal today and what might have happened here before? Winding along the canal, this work places unfamiliar stories in new places, exploring somewhere that has inspired ideas that have transformed the world today.
Pick up a handset from the starting location of Worsley Village Library and set off to discover special recordings from these seven young people hidden along the canal. The experience is unique to each visitor and will vary according to how long you roam, which direction you walk in and where you start.
Suitable for anyone age 14+.
Please wear suitable footwear and outdoor clothing.
The walk lasts 45 minutes and there are timed departures every 15 minutes between 11am and 3pm.
