About this event

Presenters: Dr Shirley Cooper, LDC Development Team with PGR presenters

This workshop is one of the Taking Ownership of your PhD workshops for University of Liverpool PhD researchers in the first few months of their PhD. For more information, please see our introduction to the Taking Ownership of your PhD development theme.

In this session we will use a project management approach to help you build a plan of the complete Liverpool PhD, and so to gain a greater understanding of the essential processes and milestones required for success and what you might need do to prepare for your work in the coming months.

During this session we will:

* Review the key stages and milestones to complete a PhD at Liverpool, from initial registration through to the Viva and covering both administration and research processes .

* Work collaboratively to create visual plans of the PhD journey and to compare your experiences and expectations of others from across the University.

* Introduce essential components in project management, with a focus on their application to the early stages of the PhD and how you can apply these in your own PhD project.

*Assess Risk management in the PhD process and how to build resilience into your plans.

The activities are primarily focussed on the PhD degree, but this is a discussion-based session and most of the discussions will apply equally to an MPhil, or online doctorates at the University of Liverpool.

This session offers opportunities for online group working and networking. Use of a microphone and webcam is recommended where possible.
