In this recital, Tal Walker will perform pieces by three generations of virtoso pianists: Mozart Liszt and Ravel.
Besides being probably the most recognized composer of his time, Mozart performed often as a pianist and had established himself as "the finest keyboard player in Vienna". A generation later, Liszt acknowledged that he "owed the greater part of what he was as a musician to Mozart". Following Liszt's Parisian tradition, Ravel's writing for solo piano, persued a Lisztian virtuosity. As pianists and composers, all three were pioneers of progress who refused to be bound by accepted modes of expression, they pushed virtuosity to utmost limits.
