A TV host, a YouTube blogger and a showman. Denys Khrystov had a very different life before Russia’s invasion. Now a volunteer evacuating civilians from the most dangerous places on the frontline, Denys says he doesn’t know how many he rescued, but he remembers everyone he did not evacuate.

The film “1% of War” by Denys Khrystov is a short yet powerful documentary consisting of several stories connected by a single location, a single time frame, and a single war. The film features evacuations of various people — and not just people — that took place in the Avdiivka direction during the final days of the battle for this city.

At the center of the stories are residents of front-line settlements who, for various reasons, delayed their departure until the last moment and eventually decided to leave the remnants of their homes and cities, heading into complete uncertainty.

This short film will leave viewers with a wide range of different emotions, but at its core, all these stories are about rescue.

Those who attend this event will have the opportunity not only to watch the film before its official release but also to chat with Den, ask questions, and hear the rest of the stories firsthand. One of the stories in this film is about the evacuation of a severely wounded soldier whom Den accidentally encountered. It was thanks to his presence at that exact time and place that the soldier’s life was saved. The goal of these screenings is to raise funds for his rehabilitation.

Телеведучий, ютуб-блогер і шоумен — Денис Хрустов мав зовсім інше життя до вторгнення Росії. Тепер він волонтер, який евакуює мирних жителів із найнебезпечніших ділянок фронту. Денис каже, що не знає, скількох людей йому вдалося врятувати, але пам’ятає кожного, кого не зміг евакуювати.

Фільм «1% війни» режисера Дениса Христова — це короткий, але потужний документальний фільм, що складається з кількох історій, пов’язаних єдиною локацією, єдиним часовим проміжком і однією війною. У стрічці показані евакуації різних людей — і не тільки людей — які відбувалися в напрямку Авдіївки під час останніх днів боїв за це місто.
