Join us for dinner on Saturday 18 October to celebrate Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group (GDWG) and our recipe book, Tales From Our Table !
Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group (GDWG) is a charity which helps people in Immigration Detention Centres (IRC's) near Gatwick Airport and has offered practical and emotional support during and after detention for 30 years. GDWG connects people held in detention to legal aid services, provides phone credit, delivers warm clothes and amplifies stories and voices.
As you may have seen in the media, the immediate detention of people who have crossed the channel has started. Brook House IRC is one of the first centres being used to detain people in this way so GDWG is on the frontline of how the policy is being experienced.
This event will be a standing reception during which we will serve six vegetarian sweet and savoury dishes - we hope you enjoy them as much as we do! You are welcome to bring a beverage of your choice, however there will be a small corkage fee of £1.
The evening will feature talks and a quiz!
All the proceeds from this event go towards Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group and the people they support.
Background about our recipe book:
Tales From Our Table is a recipe book created to celebrate the work of Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group and the community at its heart. We thought that this culinary project would be a great way of bringing people together to celebrate our work and those so closely involved. In the book you will find recipes from people with lived experience of detention, staff, volunteers and trustees. Thank you to all those who kindly donated a recipe!
The recipe book will be available to buy on the night or you can pre-order one when you check out.
We hope to see you there and bon appetite!

If you have any allergies, please complete the form when you check out.
