Transport accounts for 30% of Woking Borough’s carbon footprint. We want getting around in Woking to be easy and sustainable.
About this event
Transport accounts for 30% of Woking Borough’s carbon footprint (source BEIS local authority carbon statistics 2019). Whether you live here, work here or are a visitor, we want getting around in Woking to be easy while also contributing to and maintaining a cleaner, greener Borough. We hope that walking, cycling and public transport will be the first choice for short trips. Not only does this benefit local air quality and carbon emissions, but there are clear health and well-being advantages of “active travel”. Join us for a talk exploring how we can make positive changes to the sustainability of the Borough by adopting greener modes of transport. The webinar will cover the following topics:
- Surrey’s Local Transport Plan (LTP) and the concept of Liveable Neighbourhoods.
- How businesses can promote sustainable transport for the benefit of the local environment and the health of their employees.
- Electric vehicles (EV) – current market and models; advice for those considering an EV; and information on charging at home / work.
- Walking and cycling in Woking – infrastructure improvements; cycle to work schemes; green travel to school
There will also be a chance to engage in a Q&A with our guest speakers.
