Event description

Description

Peter Knight is an artist and printmaker who has been resident in Derbyshire for over 40 years. As part of a broad fine art practice, he has produced a nationally exhibited range of artists books and print structures that reflect an enthusiastic engagement with the county and his locality around Crich.

Whether its a response to the geology and mining or the history and literature, he has used a love of anachronistic fine art printing processes, with the craft of letterpress and bookbinding to create a personal range of work, based around Derbyshire landscape.

It seems a good time to celebrate the love he has of the craft of print media with the layered continuum of the authentic experiences to be had of exploring this remarkable county.

In this talk Peter gives an insight into printmaking techniques as they relate to the exhibits on show in his exhibition 'Derbyshire perspectives-Reading Landscape’, on display at the record office until January 2020, where examples of plates and evidence of the working process will be exhibited alongside finished books and art work.
