Wed 3 May 2017, 11:00 – 12:00 BST
The exhibition ‘America After the Fall: Painting in the 1930s’ at the RA tells the story of a nation in flux as artists responded to rapid social change and economic turbulence after the Wall Street crash. The 45 works in this exhibition, by artists including Jackson Pollock, Georgia O’Keeffe, Edward Hopper and Philip Guston, paint a vivid portrait of this transformative period. The celebrated and iconic American Gothic (1930) by Grant Wood, has never left North America before. Dr Adrian Locke is Senior Curator at the Royal Academy of Arts.
