Talk and Guided Tour of GHT: Defence of the Realm

Join us for this special guided tour of GHT led by Dr Cheryl Butler, as part of August's Armada Festival events taking place across Southampton.

Hear about GHT's role as the Town's gun battery and home to the Town Gunners on the front line guarding the Town from invaders.

The tour will be followed by a 1-hour talk with Dr Cheryl Butler 'Defense of the Realm' exploring the lives of the local population who had been preparing for invasion, the men training at musters and relying on the expertise of the town gunners who were based at God’s House Tower to help repeal the invaders.

In addition, participants in the Armada Festival can claim a discounted entry into the permanent exhibition The Stories Behind the Stones at God’s House Tower across the weekend 7-10th August.
