About this Event

About Anissa Bouziane

After living and working in New York City for more than a decade, Anissa moved back to Morocco following 9/11, in 2002, to finally end up in France.

Her first book Dune Song tells the story of the tragedy from the perspective of an Arab-American woman. With this book, Anissa received prizes including 2019 First Book Award of the Edinburgh International Book Festival and the Special Jury Prize of Casablanca’s Prix Littéraire Sofitel Tour Blanche.

Author published internationally, Anissa’s writes originally in English. However, Dune Song saw its first publication in French translation.

The Prix Goncourt winner, Fouad Laroui describes Dune Song as "both precise and lyrical, this novel of epic scope suggests it’s through service towards those whom fortune has forsaken that one can truly find peace."

Currently a PhD candidate in Creative Writing at the University of Warwick, Anissa is working on her new novel.
