About this event

A 60-min talk via Zoom (with 5-min break) followed by a Q&A

Speaker: Nick Williams, RSPB

In this talk, illustrated with spectacular photos and videos, we will dive into the awe-inspiring world of bird migration and discover the epic migration route that connects the UK with over 70 other countries.

Running from the Arctic all the way to South Africa, the East Atlantic Flyway is a bird superhighway used by all our migratory landbirds; from the mighty Osprey to cooing Turtle Doves, tiny Wood Warblers, musical Nightingales and many more.

Join us as we travel down the flyway making stops in Iceland, the UK, Senegal, Ghana and South Africa along the way, hearing about the challenges the birds face, the habitats they depend on, and the amazing people who are helping species at risk in international partnerships with the RSPB.

About the speaker

Nick Williams studied wildlife film-making in Bristol alongside the BBC's Natural History Unit and has worked in the world of natural history film-making since 2016.

Shoots have taken him across the globe; from the jungles of Borneo and the mountains of Slovakia, to the wetlands of Thailand and the wild west coast of Scotland.

Nick now works as Flyway Conservation Outreach Officer in the international department at the RSPB where he devotes his time to writing articles, taking photos, and producing videos about international conservation efforts.
