Event description

Description

As an introduction to ‘Charles II: Art & Power’, the current exhibition at the Queen’s Gallery Buckingham Palace, this talk reveals how the court of Charles II became the centre for patronage of leading artists. The collecting of great works of art served not only to decorate the royal apartments but also to glorify the restored monarchy, reinforcing the position of Charles II as the rightful king.
