Available workshops are:

1. Supporting communication development in the early years when English is an additional language - Tamara Rolfs, The Harmony Trust

Explore how to support communication and language development in the early years for your children and families when English is an additional language. There will be plenty of practical strategies, top tips and information about resources for you to try in your setting!

2. Targeted support: How to bring children's speech and language targets to life and implement targeted support as part of a busy day

This workshop will look at examples of children's speech and language targets and how these can be brought to life through play opportunities and games as part of a busy day.

3. Using Music and singing to build communication skills - Ruth Churchill Dower, Early Arts

A practical workshop that will equip you with the confidence and ideas to use music and singing across the EYFS curriculum to enable the children you work with to develop their listening and communication skills in a fun, engaging and inclusive manner.

Booking information

Please indicate on the booking form which workshop you would like to attend and your second preference. Workshop spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. If attending with a colleague, we recommend choosing different workshops so you experience more on offer. Top tips from each workshop will be collated and shared after the event.

Who should attend?

Up to two representatives per school, early years setting, children's centre and childminder can attend this meeting. To support action planning and implementation, we hope your TALK Derby Champion will be one of your attendees. If you don't already have a TALK Derby Champion at your setting, click here to register one. You will then need to register for the Champions' Network meeting. If desired, a certificate of attendance will be provided.

Places are limited and priority will be given to settings who have a registered Champion.

Please note tea and coffee will be served. There is ample free parking on site.
