The talk:

Organised by the Essex branch of the JHSE

This illustrated talk by Dr Gil Toffell will explore a Jewish orientation to film culture in interwar Britain. He will discuss how pleasure, politics and communal solidarity intermingled in the cinemas of Jewish neighbourhoods.

The speaker, Dr Gil Toffell

Dr Gil Toffell is Academic Research Project Officer at the British Universities Film and Video Council, and an academic researcher currently working on a project based at Oxford University exploring east London as a shared religious space.
