About this event

DO YOU WANT TO TALK? After you have attended a 2-hour Talk for Health Taster, we invite you to join us at a Talk for Health Café. A safe confidential space where you can come as you feel - you are perfect just the way you are. Haven’t been to a taster? Click here to see our full list of Tasters and to sign up.

Cafés are our monthly peer-support groups. They don’t actually take place in Cafes (although there will always be tea and biscuits!) Instead, our Cafes are located in closed venues which provide a safe space for sharing. Our Cafes are structured time: everyone will have equal amount of time to share and respond, using the Talk for Health feedback techniques that you started to learn in the Taster session. Sign up is easy, and the groups run on the same day of the week each month (e.g. the 3rd Friday, or 2nd Monday).

You will learn to take care of your emotional health and lift your own and others’ wellbeing through truthful talking and empathic listening. At a Talk for Health Café led by a trained Talk for Health facilitator, you will learn the skills to be able to:

- Talk honestly

- Be listened to without judgement

- Share stories

- Form new connections

Once you’ve attended at least 6 Cafés for 6 months, or completed the full Talk for Health Programme, you’ll be a Talk for Health graduate! This means that you’ll be eligible to attend further leadership trainings and our ‘Chair and Share’ peer support groups.

If you have any questions, or are unable to sign-up using Eventbrite, please call or text 'call me' on 07826 148 461 or email info@talkforhealth.co.uk.

As we are funded by Camden Giving and Islington NHS we have to give priority to Camden and Islington residents, students, or those with a GP in either of those boroughs. If you live outside of those boroughs we invite you to attend the Taster and we are able to invite you to join the programme if there are unfilled spaces.

Please note that if at any point either before or during the programme facilitators feel that by taking part there is a risk of detriment to your wellbeing then you will not be allowed to continue with the programme. Facilitators will support with suggestions for alternative referrals.

We apologise for the inconvenience, but for legal reasons under eighteens, babies, and animals will not be permitted to attend.

This Café takes place at The Stress Project (2 Shelburne Road, London, England, N7 6DL) on the third Thursday of every month from 6.30 – 8.30 pm.

Organised by

Talk for Health is a social enterprise that demystifies effective therapeutic talk, making it accessible to all. We make group peer to peer counselling something we can all do - whether for our own wellbeing, to help others, or both.

We are now operating programmes, tasters, groups and other events both online and in person, so you can choose what suits you best. Participants can join online events using their mobiles, laptops or tablets.  Those without an internet connection or smartphone can dial in using regular mobile phones or landlines.

How does it work?

We provide initial training programmes that teach group peer-to-peer counselling skills and give you plenty of space to reflect on your own life.  After training, Talk for Health Graduates gain access to free, monthly, ongoing groups for wellbeing, as well as occasional advanced learning groups and further training.

Further training is provided for Graduates to become trainers of the initial training programmes and/or facilitators of on-going groups.

All these free activities are made possible by funding from the Islington Clinical Commissioning Group as well as other grant-funding bodies. Some programmes are for Islington and Camden residents only, due to ICCG funding, and others are available only to those in Northeast London. Other events are open to all. Please contact us if you're not sure.

We also run special events that are open to everyone and hope to see you at one of our programmes or events soon.

If you would like further information then please email info@talkforhealth.co.uk or call/text 020 3409 3201.

Wish to support us? If you are able, please donate to save our service! Talk for Health needs help as we contend with a funding cliff-edge when people need us the most in the winter months. Please consider donating when signing up to an event on Eventbrite, or make a donation to our Crowdfunder campaign here. All donations of all sizes are immensely appreciated. Thank you so much!
