Talk for Health November 2021 Special: Deeper Connections

About this event

Talk for Health's monthly Special events are an opportunity for anyone in the community to come along, learn something new, and experience talking for health.

The November Special will be lead by Ranjit Krishnamma*.

“Deeper Connections.” (An introduction to Authentic Relating.)

Having a good chat with someone is really good for us. But how do we move past the “How are you?” - “I’m fine.” or endless small talk? What if we want deeper conversations?

Following on from the success of the last Authentic Relating Special, Ranjit will be using the wealth of his experience as a group facilitator, to recreate a community feeling where we will play simple games that teach skills like curiosity and empathy, which quickly forge deeper, more meaningful human connections. a community that makes talking, listening and relating with one another an easy and fun activity.

* Ranjit Krishnamma Biography:

Ranjit Krishnamma is an actor and group facilitator trained in a variety of acting styles including The Method, the Meisner Process and Bio-energetic Bodywork. He has worked professionally with most major theatre companies as well as for TV, Film, Radio and other voice-related mediums. As a facilitator he leads the highly renowned Mastery of Self Expression, various Authentic Relating/Circling events and has devised and led many personal development workshops of his own, including modules for Leadership training.

Building on the skills taught in T4H, this event will offer people a place and an excuse to connect with each other on a more conscious and satisfying level, which is most of what we need for wellness.

The second half of the Special will introduce you to, and give you a chance to experience, some of the four key learning areas of Talk for Health:

• Open and truthful talking

• Empathic listening

• Basic counselling skills

• How to set up an ongoing group

After this event, you can go straight into a Talk for Health Café, where you will learn peer counselling skills and get plenty of space to talk and get/give support. You can also sign up to the Full 4-day Talk for Health Peer Counselling Programme for a deeper therapeutic and skills-building experience.

As always the event is free, but please make aa donation if you can. This has been a challenging year for us and we intend to keep running these workshops free. If you can help us do that we would be very grateful.

Organiser Talk for Health

Organiser of Talk for Health November 2021 Special: Deeper Connections

Talk for Health is a social enterprise that demystifies effective therapeutic talk, making it accessible to all. We make group peer to peer counselling something we can all do - whether for our own wellbeing, to help others, or both.

We are continuing with all our training and ongoing peer groups online throughout the coronavirus pandemic. Participants can join us using their mobiles, laptops or tablets.  Those without an internet connection or smartphone can dial in using regular mobile phones or landlines.

How does it work?

We provide initial training programmes that teach group peer to peer counselling skills and give you plenty of space to reflect on your own life.  After training, Talk for Health Graduates gain access to free, monthly, ongoing groups for wellbeing, as well as occasional advanced learning groups and further training.

Further training is provided for Graduates to become trainers of the initial training programmes and/or facilitators of on-going groups.

All these free activities are made possible by funding from the Islington Clinical Commissioning Group as well as two grant-funding bodies. Some programmes are for Islington and Camden residents only, due to ICCG funding, but others are open to all.

We also run special events that are open to everyone and hope to see you at one of our programmes or events soon.

If you would like further information then please email or call/text 0203 409 3201.
