Talk: Local Action Against Apartheid
Event Information
Description
To mark 100 years since the birth of Nelson Mandela, this exhibition tells the story of the anti-apartheid movement in Islington. From synchronised leaflet bombs set off in South Africa by 'London Recruits', to the Islington-based African National Congress offices and the contribution made by local people and Islington Council to the fight against apartheid.
Join us to hear Lela Kogbara and Christabel Gurney discuss their anti-apartheid activism in London.
Prior to the talk, please drop in to visit the anti-apartheid exhibition downstairs in Islington Museum, which will be open until 5:45.
In partnership with the Anti-Apartheid Movement Archives and the Marx Memorial Library.
