Edinburgh, United Kingdom
In this talk, Dr Henry Noltie, a researcher at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, will talk about the historical aspects of the herbarium and archive collections from India.
Over the last 10 years, Dr Noltie has pieced together information from the RBGE and other British and international collections in order to tell the scientific and social history around the work of the Scottish East India Company surgeons.
The talk will provide a rare opportunity to see some of the original drawings and manuscripts that tell the story of these pioneering Scots.
PLEASE NOTE: A tour of the RBGE Library will be offered from 2pm to 3.30pm, with refreshments served from 2pm to 2.30pm in the Board Room Annexe at 20A Inverleith Row. To book your place on this tour please visit http://rbgelibrary.eventbrite.co.uk.
