Description

Completed in 1432, the Ghent Altarpiece by Jan and Hubert van Eyck (in St Bavo’s Cathedral, Ghent, Belgium) is the first datable painting of the Northern Renaissance. In this talk, art lecturer Paula Nuttall discusses its complex imagery, as well as some of the discoveries that have emerged during the current restoration of the altarpiece.
