Develop Your Creative Skills with Textiles!
This workshop is for anyone who wishes to develop their creative skills. You may already use patterns or kits but want to try something different and more personal. You might have a few ideas but are unsure how to take them forward. This approach applies to many different media, but we’ll be using textiles to create samples in response to your cherished object or picture. You’ll leave with a sample or two and an individual action plan to take your ideas forward.
Limited to 8 participants.
No previous experience is necessary, but a willingness to try out ideas and talk about them is welcome! Please bring along a cherished object that means something special to you – it could be an item of clothing, a holiday souvenir, something from a family member, a kitchen utensil, a vase, an image or picture, etc. Also, bring along a small notebook and pencil; all other materials will be provided.
About the Facilitator:
Liz Dymond is a textile artist who tells stories through collage, fine hand embroidery, and digital fabric design, exploring themes of treasure, legacy, and order. Her work includes original artworks and prints, often incorporating inherited fabrics, clothing, and haberdashery to highlight their hidden value.
With six years of experience as a textile artist and a lifelong passion for making, Liz previously worked as a medical engineer, specializing in health, innovation, and creative thinking workshops. In 2019/20, she completed a Foundation in Art & Design at Bristol School of Art to further develop her practice.
She regularly exhibits in local art trails and open competitions, with selections for Fringe Arts Bath (2022, 2023) and Friends of the Royal West of England Academy (2023). In 2023, she contributed to the historical embroidery project ‘The Unstitched Coif,’ with her blackwork piece exhibited at Bloc Gallery, Sheffield, and accepted into the Victoria & Albert Museum’s permanent collection.
