Mon 17 October 2016, 18:30 – 21:30 BST
Topic - Global Leadership in the 21st Century
Valerie Ann Amos, Baroness Amos CH PC was the eighth UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator. Before her appointment to the UN, she served as British High Commissioner to Australia. She was created a Labour Life Peer in 1997, becoming Leader of the House of Lords and Lord President of the Council.
Her most recent appointment has been to be the 9th director of SOAS, the School of Oriental & African Studies, and coincidently makes her the first woman of African descent to be director of an institute of higher education in Great Britain. She began this role in September 2015.
