Description

Join us on Wednesday 14 March at 6:30pm for a talk with taxidermy artist Polly Morgan in what promises to be a fascinating evening.

Born in Banbury, Oxfordshire in 1980, Polly Morgan moved to East London to read English Literature in 1998. She took up taxidermy and began making sculptural work in 2004. One of her first professional works – a white rat curled-up in a champagne glass – was snapped up by Richard Branson's sister, Vanessa, hours before it was due to be exhibited at Zoo Art Fair.

"I'm drawn to the delicate and fragile" says Polly, as a consequence, perhaps, there is a quiet, haunting quality to her work. Having studied with Scottish taxidermist George Jamieson, Morgan plays with and dismantles taxidermy traditions, creating sculptures that have brought her work to the attention of many notable collectors and curators both in Britain and internationally. Today, having been spotted by Banksy, hailed by Hirst and picked up by Saatchi, she's the toast of the big galleries; as well as amateur enthusiasts including Kate Moss and Courtney Love.

Polly Morgan continues to live and work in London.
