Toria Collins presents a Sara Richards Memorial Lecture.

Toria will share insights into her textile practice, discuss the ideas that shape her work and reveal how her sense of place and belonging affects her practice.

Toria engages with the vibrant Welsh landscape with all her senses. She observes rhythms, harmonies, and how patterns form where nature and human influence meet. Her engineered yet delicate, airy textile works emerge as tactile responses to these encounters. Blending ancient and contemporary techniques, her work is influenced by Pojagi—a traditional Korean patchwork method—merging her love of stained glass with her expertise in textile construction.

Mae Toria yn ymgysylltu â'r tirwedd Gymreig bywiog gyda'i holl synhwyrau. Mae hi'n arsylwi rhythmau, harmonïau, a sut mae patrymau'n ffurfio lle mae natur a dylanwad dynol yn cwrdd. Mae ei gweithiau tecstilau peirianyddol ond ysgafn ac awyrol yn deillio fel ymatebion cyffyrddol i'r cyfarfyddiadau hyn. Gan gyfuno technegau hynafol a chyfoes, mae ei gwaith yn cael ei ddylanwadu gan Pojagi—dull traddodiadol o glytwaith o Korea—gan uno ei chariad at wydr lliw gyda'i harbenigedd mewn adeiladu tecstilau.
