Key Speakers:

Alex Skeel, TALK:4M Volunteer

Alex will share his lived experience of his abusive relationship as seen in his BBC documentary, ’Abused By My Girlfriend’. Bedfordshire Police described Alex's case as one of the most extreme cases of domestic violence they had ever dealt with. By sharing his story, Alex hopes to challenge assumptions about violence and masculinity in relationships, and to empower victims of domestic violence to come forward.

Luke Martin, Martin Training and Consultancy

Luke has over a decade’s experience working in the domestic and sexual abuse sector. With both an academic and practical background in the field, Luke has established himself as one of the leading professionals on working with male victims of domestic and sexual abuse.

Susie Hay, SafeLives

Susie is currently the of Head of the Research, Evaluation and Analysis team at SafeLives. Alongside her role within SafeLives she is a practicing Clinical Supervisor and Psychotherapist, with a specialism working with children and young adults. At present her primary client work is focused on trauma exposure, men’s issues and she is commissioned by the West Mercia and Warwickshire Police service to work with all members of the force needing therapeutic support. Susie also brings her own lived experience into her work as a SafeLives internal pioneer/ survivor.

Josh Taylor, SafeLives

Josh is a research analyst for SafeLives. He has worked on a number of projects including Insights, an outcome measurement tool for domestic abuse services, and was lead analyst on Drive, an intensive intervention that works with high-harm and serial perpetrators to challenge behaviour and prevent abuse. Josh is currently leading on The Voices of Men and Boys research for the organisation and designed, developed and analysed the data and insight collected to date. Josh also brings his own lived experience into his work as a SafeLives internal pioneer/survivor.
