About this event

Family & Education • Parenting
  • How soon is too soon to start revising?
  • Why won't my son/daughter just get on with it?
  • They KNOW the exams are coming and how important they are!
  • How can my child become more organised?
  • I can see my teenager is getting stressed but how can I help them to calm down?
  • The whole exam period is such a rollercoaster - how can we all get through it?
  • What do I say if the results don't go well?

These are such common questions!

We want our children to do well but they may seem to be putting off doing any preparation, having a last minute panic, or be overwhelmed and trying to do too much.

When our children face exams and assessments, the levels of stress in the household can increase dramatically and it is often hard for parents to watch their young person struggle, and know what to do for the best to help and support them through this challenging period.

When our sons and daughters are experiencing higher levels of stress and anxiety anyway, this can become even more of a challenge.

Our workshop is a response to that need.

Run by highly experienced facilitators, counsellors and parenting practitioners, this workshop will help parents to understand:

  • How and when to begin exam preparation and what does good preparation look like?
  • Encouraging and responding to our young people without conflict or nagging
  • The science of stress & performance and how appropriate stress can help us
  • Helping our teenagers manage their own stress before, during and between exams
  • Coping strategies when our young people are sitting in an exam
  • How to support your child after their exams with their results - whatever they may be!

The Supporting Links ethos is to help parents to use new knowledge and strategies within their own families and, thereby, support their young person now and as they develop important stress management skills for the future.

The session will include a Q& A.

The workshop will take place using Zoom and is suitable for all parents and carers of pupils within the Berkhamsted Schools Group.

Please note that the payment is due on completion of this registration, is and non-refundable regardless of attendance.
