Talking Philanthropy: A Practical Session for Wealth Advisers
Presented by Jersey Community Foundation
Led by Emma Beeston, philanthropy adviser and author of Advising Philanthropists: Principles and Practice.
As conversations about purpose, legacy and positive, local impact become increasingly important to wealthy individuals and businesses, wealth advisers are uniquely placed to guide clients in exploring their philanthropic goals. But many advisers feel unsure about how to begin.
Following on from our successful ‘Culture of Philanthropy’ event last year, Talking Philanthropy is a more practical session designed to help wealth advisers build confidence and direction when it comes to giving philanthropic advice.
Led by experienced philanthropy adviser, author and academic Emma Beeston, this 2.5 hour interactive workshop will equip you with the mindset, tools, and language to start and develop meaningful conversations about giving. Through expert input, client examples, and small group exercises, you’ll learn how to:
- Understand why philanthropy matters to clients—and your business
- Explore what motivates people to give
- Know when and how to raise the topic
- Use practical questions to uncover philanthropic interests
- Support clients as they shape their giving journey
Whether you’re completely new to advising on philanthropy or looking to build your confidence and offering in this space, this session offers a supportive, hands on introduction to integrating giving into your client conversations.
The event will finish with an update from Locate Jersey.
