This is event is for staff working in Primary Care in Nottingham & Nottinghamshire

Aim of this Event

To upskill the wider team in supporting patients to make informed decisions about statins.

Learn how to use decision aids, bust common myths, and understand your vital role in cardiovascular risk management.

Target Audience

All Notts ICS - Nurse Associates, Health Care Assistants, GP Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians and Nurses new in role.

Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the purpose of statins and describe when and how to use statin decision aids and tools such as QRISK3 in supporting shared decision-making.
  • Recognise key information to share with patients when initiating statins, including the rationale for starting treatment, common myths, side effects, and the importance of follow-up.
  • Identify their own role and accountability in the wider multidisciplinary team when supporting patients prescribed statins, including how to respond when patients decline treatment and when to escalate or refer.
