Event description

A fantastic opportunity to sail aboard the three-masted barque Kaskelot from Falmouth. 5 hour trips.

The crew will choose the best route to optimise your sailing experience given the weather conditions on the day. Get involved and help our team of professional deckhands set the sails and perform manouevers, or just sit back and enjoy the spectacle!

Our trip on Sunday 24th June will also coincide with the Falmouth Classics Parade.

Refreshments and a picnic-style lunch are included.

Remaining tickets will be available "on the door".

Please arrive by 09.30 to allow transfer out to the ship on her river mooring.

Day sailing is highly weather dependent, and we reserve the right to cancel trips if the weather (or any other variable) is not conducive to the safety of the vessel, her crew or passengers. In the case of a cancellation we will do everything we can to find space for you on one of our other trips or offer you a full refund.

Joining Instructions will be sent out a few days prior to the trip, which will include local parking options, meeting point and the latest weather forecast! Please provide your email address during booking to ensure you receive this information.

Kaskelot was built in 1948 in Denmark for the Royal Greenland Trading Company, before embarking on a career in the film and TV industry. Find out more at her website, or ask the crew on the day!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a minimum age for these trips?

Kaskelot carries plenty of lifejackets, including jackets for children, although we would recommend that sailing aboard is not suitable for children under 5. If you are purchasing a child's ticket and your child looks 16 or older then proof of age would be appreciated. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. If you do bring children with you it is vital that you supervise them at all times.

Can I bring my own food and drink?

Refreshments and lunch are provided on board, but you are also welcome to bring your own. We would request that you do not bring alcohol with you.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

If you have any questions regarding the event please contact our Operations Manager Jessie at, or call 07900956938.

What's the refund policy?

Sailing trips are inherently weather-dependent. Should a day-sail be cancelled we will endeavour to find space for you at an alternate time, otherwise we will give you a full refund. Should your plans change and you wish to cancel your booking, a full refund will be given provided the cancellation request is received 10 days prior to the event. Requests to transfer your tickets to an alternate trip will be fulfilled at any time, subject to availability.

Can you cater for special dietary requirements?

We endeavour to cater for all dietary requirements, but do ask that you give us plenty of notice. All food is prepared and stored in the ship's galley, and we cannot guarantee that food will be free of allergen traces. Therefore if you have a severe allergy we would recommend that you bring your own lunch with you. Do get in touch to discuss this, as if we are unable to safely cater for you we will give you a discount on your ticket price.

Are the trips suitable for people with mobility issues?

Every effort will be made to accommodate guests with mobility issues, however Kaskelot is an old sailing ship and therefore comes with some inherent difficulties. Certain sailing locations may require that we transfer passengers to the ship via transfer-boat, which can be tricky. There are also steep stairways, and a high sill to step over in order to access the lavatories. There are plenty of places to sit on deck, and our crew will assist you in any way they can. If you have any concerns, please get in touch with our Operations Manager Jessie on 07900956938 or by email to

What if I'm sea-sick?

Sailing ships all have their own distinct motions, and Kaskelot is no exception. If you are at all concerned about seasickness we would recommend either taking seasickness medication in advance, or using pressure point travel sickness wristbands. Always follow the advice of the pharmacist and read the packet carefully.
