El objetivo del taller es poner en práctica herramientas para potenciar la creatividad: conocer y aprender técnicas que nos permitan ejercitar la perspicacia, el ingenio y la provocación para que el "pensamiento creativo" esté disponible cuando lo necesitemos.

Este taller está dirigido especialmente a investigadores, que ya se encuentran en su día a día con la exigencia de generar ideas novedosas.

Una investigación científica se basa en descubrir un proceso antes no caracterizado; construir un avance tecnológico diferente, aportar una nueva propuesta... Para conseguirlo necesitaremos utilizar el "pensamiento lógico", que nos permita ser personas analíticas, basarnos en conocimientos anteriores y seguir razonamientos lineales. Pero también necesitaremos poder imaginar otras posibilidades, probar planteamientos originales, generar algo disruptivo.

Pero ¿qué necesitamos para ser una persona creativa? ¿cómo ser una persona analítica y a la vez creativa? ¿cómo enfocar una investigación desde otras perspectivas? ¿cómo generar nuevas ideas y propuestas?

En este taller trabajaremos durante dos horas con el fin de descubrir cómo cultivar nuestra propia creatividad. Usaremos técnicas participativas y creativas para experimentar como trabajar nuestro tema de investigación desde otras perspectivas. Introduciremos como es un proceso de pensamiento creativo y ejercicios que poder usar en nuestro trabajo cotidiano.

The objective of this workshop is to put into practice tools to stimulate creativity: to learn and practice techniques that will allow us to exercise our intuition, our ingenuity and the possibilities of provocation so that we can ‘think creatively’, in general, and when we most need to.

On a daily basis researchers are expected to generate new ideas and approaches, for this reason this workshop is directed in particular at the research community.

Expectations are high for scientific research projects: processes should be discovered that have not previously been identified; technological advances might be anticipated; new models might be proposed; new data should perhaps be gathered and analysed. Yet in order to achieve this we must use what is termed, ‘logical thinking’ in which we are analytical, and begin from previously established knowledge. From here, we are permitted to imagine other possibilities, to try other new approaches and to generate something new, challenging, or even disruptive for previous understandings of science. In this workshop we will start with ‘logical thinking’ and move on to explore ‘lateral thinking’.

What do we need to be creative? How can we be both analytical and creative at once? How can we focus on research from different perspectives? How can we generate new ideas?

In short, how can we cultivate our own creativity?

We will use participatory and creative exercises in order to work with participants’ own research ideas. We will introduce some of our own creative thinking processes and exercises that we are able to use in our everyday work.

This event led by Seisques is organised by the Northwest constituency of SRUK/CERU (Society of Spanish Researchers in the United Kindgom) and the Instituto Cervantes-Manchester part of the program "Spain: Science is the Key" embebed in the activities taking place in Manchester, the European City of Science 2016 (http://manchestersciencecity.com/).
