Event description
Lama Zangmo will explain topics such as: Developing Mindfulness and Introspection; How to deal with difficulties in meditation

About this Event

Lama Zangmo will explain topics such as: Developing Mindfulness and Introspection; How to deal with difficulties in meditation; Explanation of The Nine Stages of the Path to Shamatha ; The Prerequisites for attaining Shamatha.

The course can be attended both by beginners or by those with some experience, as a way to continue to deepen ones understanding, clarify uncertainties and gain more experience in meditation.

There will be time for actual meditation, and explanation on how to bring awareness into daily life outside of formal meditation sessions.

Calm abiding meditation (Shamatha) is accomplished through the development of mindfulness, which can be described as an ongoing awareness of what we perceive. By training in focusing this awareness stably in meditation we can give rise to a more peaceful mind.

Meditation and mindfulness, practised regularly over time, have strong potential to make one’s general state of mind more positive: increasingly we can become free of habitual reactivity, unhelpful emotional patterns, and limited ways of seeing ourselves and others. With a more open and relaxed mind we will have less stress resulting from our living situation, and less tendency to be thrown by the ups-and-downs that life presents. A regular meditation practice can bring a greater sense of inner peace and calm an overactive mind.
