Usually our mind is in control of us. We do not know how to guard our mind from disturbing thoughts and as a result it often runs wild. Our ‘wild elephant’ mind can cause us a lot of pain and stress. It prevents us from thinking clearly and making good decisions and can therefore get us into all sorts of complicated situations.
On this course we will learn how to protect and guide our mind using mindfulness and alertness so that we can avoid falling under the influence of harmful thoughts and instead develop deep peace of mind.
The day will include guided meditations and time to relax and reflect. The cost of the morning includes refreshments. Lunch is not included in the price, however a limited number of light vegetarian meals are available to purchase in advance. You are also welcome to bring your own food to eat on the premises or there are plenty of local cafes and shops nearby.
The course will be taught by visiting teacher, Gen Kelsang Chodor. We are delighted to welcome Gen Chodor back to Birmingham. Gen Chodor is the Resident Teacher at Bodhisattva Kadampa Meditation Centre in Brighton. He is a western Buddhist Monk. Ordained in 2001, he is a close disciple of Geshe-la and has studied and practised Buddhism for many years. He is much loved for his relaxed and gentle nature and teaches with great clarity, insight , and wisdom skillfully guiding people to inner peace and happiness in their lives.
Please book online to secure your place and to book a meal if you wish to have one.
(If you are not able to attend the whole day, it is possible to attend half a day, however maximum benefit will be gained from attending the whole course).
