You know how some hugs feel ✨so niceeee✨ and others feel like... well, like you're trying really hard not to make it weird. It’s kind of the same in tango.
The difference isn't always technique - it's whether your nervous system is chill or in full "stranger danger" mode (we think). When you're tense because your brain thinks unfamiliar humans = potential threat, it's pretty hard to be present with your dance partner. When you're actually calm? Stuff kind of flows.
So one day I (Daniela, your local chaos coordinator) was texting my friend Veronica and my brain went: "come visit me in Scotland? We could even teach a class together before our teacher training lol jk 👉👈"
So. It’s happening. And we’re going to explore:
- Why we get weird about physical closeness with people we don't know well
- How your nervous system hijacks your ability to connect (in dance, but also in life)
- Ways to convince your body that other humans aren't actually dangerous
- Games to practice being genuinely present vs just going through the motions
